The Malaysian Integrated Medical Professionals Association (MIMPA) is currently on the ground joining the relief efforts in one of the worst flood disasters in Malaysia, affecting more than 132,000 people in the East Coast. MIMPA, together Sabah Air, Malindo Air send its first emergency response team on December 26th to Merting, Jerantut and managed to treat 89 patients who were cut off from medical services for 3 days.
The second response team is already prepped and is scheduled to fly on December 29th and is expected to stay at flood hit areas till January 1st.
The third team, on standby, is preparing to help after the water recedes for post disaster care.
On behalf of the Malaysian Medical Gazette, our thoughts are with the family and friends of all those who are affected by the floods and we pray that the volunteering teams are able to provide much needed relief to the victims.
