The Malaysian Medical Gazette team is saddened by the news of a MasWings Twin Otter plane that crashed yesterday (10th October 2013) in Kudat, Sabah. The plane was carrying 16 passengers including the pilot and co-pilot.
Ten passengers were injured and there were two casualties. The two casualties were Tan Ah Chai, a 69 year old local and 23 year old co-pilot Marc Joel Bansh, a talented young man who was also the son of Captain Harel Bansh, a Sabah Air pilot who has been serving with the Flying Doctor Service and Emergency Air Retrieval team in Sabah. Dr. Nelbon, the advisor of The Malaysian Medical Gazette, who was in charge of the Flying Doctor Service for more than 10 years, has previously worked closely with Captain Harel Bansh.
For his service to the people of Sabah and Malaysia, we would like to honour the memory of Marc Joel Bansh and thank him and all others who have given so much in the line of duty.
Our prayers are with his family and the families of all victims of this tragedy.
