The government has a responsibility to protect the health of its population, some difficult decisions will have to be made, and we need a strong-willed government to make the necessary changes in the country to enable behavioural change and shift in our socio-cultural norms to reduce our exposure to non-communicable diseases (NCD) risk factors. World leaders are gathered now at the UN General Assembly to assess efforts made since 2011 in controlling noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and scale up action plans.
